Baracoa, Cuba (no field notes)
Who's ready to take an adventure through the jungle?! I'm happy to say that this month's beautiful letter detailing the wilds of eastern Cuba is officially en route to homes worldwide!
Baracoa is a small fishing village surrounded by a true paradise. For centuries, this remote part of the island was only accessible by boat... so it has remained a unique and authentic part of the country for a very long time. Its isolation allowed many cultural traditions to carry on.... like cacao harvesting and teti fishing! On every waning moon, locals gather in the waters to catch the elusive tiny fish. Legend states that you can only catch them if you're pure of heart.
The jungle-covered mountains are brimming with life, including Cuban painted snails, the world's smallest bird, avocado trees, and giant millipedes.... and at night, the village streets come alive with Salsa music and feasts of the day's catch.
Join Isabelle on this month's journey to Baracoa, Cuba, and learn all about what makes this tiny corner of the globe so special.
